This work analyses new forms of governance in higher education, which arise from the scientifictechnological
revolution and the 4.0 industry and its effects in terms of the transformations present in the administration and management model of the Consejo de Rectores de Universidades Privadas and the Universidad Abierta Interamericana, during the 2017-2020 period. These two institutions are faced with a paradigm shift, as strategic decision making adopts a new meaning and new forms
of leadership emerge in an ever more dynamic, unstable and complex scenario for institutions of higher education. Examining the management and administration methods of both these institutions, this work is concluded with a definition of a new governance model which is characterized by being decentralized, strategic and enterprising, well-articulated with the institution’s aims and purposes and consistent with the values, principles and priorities defined in its own institutional culture
