Internationalization? why? what for? Internationalization in Argentine universities

The purpose of this paper is to study the meaning and intensity of the internationalization in Argentine universities. Based on the assumption that institutions are at the center of a latent tension between global hegemonic tendencies and the own actions of internationalization carried out by local actors, the study argues that the internationalization of higher education produces specific effects within the universities. In this sense, after the conceptual framework, an analysis of specific institutional cases is presented, in the Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires and in universities of the interior of the country, in order to detect which are the drivers that drive the internationalization in the institutions, how they transit it and in what ways
